Are you embarrassed by the smile you see in the mirror? You don’t have to live with less than perfect teeth. Dr. Brenda Gong can create your dream smile using an effective and minimally invasive procedure. Porcelain veneers cover your cosmetic flaws to improve the overall color, size, shape, and proportion of your teeth. You’ll enjoy natural-looking results that can last for a decade or more!
What are Porcelain Veneers?
Veneers are custom-crafted shells that are bonded to the front surfaces of the
teeth to instantly hide your imperfections. You may be picturing
Chicklet-looking teeth, but veneers have come a long way over the last several
decades.
Now, they are made from porcelain, which not only makes them look more natural, but it also allows them to be thinner. This makes them blend in seamlessly with your teeth. It also makes the treatment less invasive because you keep more of your enamel intact during the bonding process.
Am I a Candidate for Porcelain Veneers?
If you have one or more cosmetic concerns, you may be a candidate for veneers.
You’ll need a consultation with Dr. Gong to evaluate your oral health
and to discuss the results you want to achieve. Often, veneers can be used to
correct:
- Dark tooth discoloration that won’t respond to traditional whitening treatments.
- Chipped, cracked, or abnormally shaped teeth.
- Shorter than average teeth.
- Gaps between teeth.
- Minor alignment concerns.
What are the Benefits of Porcelain Veneers?
If you’re a candidate for veneers, you’ll enjoy a variety of
benefits, including:
- Natural-looking results.
- Correct several issues using one treatment.
- Fast results.
- Minimally invasive.
- Results can last a decade or longer.
What is the Process?
After your initial consultation with your cosmetic dentist, you can expect to
need 2 more appointments to complete your smile transformation. During your
first visit, Dr. Gong will clean and prepare your teeth. She will remove a
small amount of enamel. This is necessary to ensure they sit flush. Afterward,
she will take an impression of your mouth, which the dental lab will use to
carefully design and craft your veneers to meet your exact specifications.
This can take a couple of weeks, so you’ll need temporary veneers in the
meantime. After your final veneers are ready, you’ll return to our
office to have them bonded in place.
How Long Do Veneers Last?
Now, you’ll have the picture-perfect smile you’ve always wanted, which can last a decade or longer with the right care. To protect your investment, it’s best to:
- Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and nonabrasive toothpaste to clean your teeth twice a day.
- Floss every night.
- Wear a mouthguard if you play sports.
- Don’t use your teeth as tools.
- Don’t bite or chew on inedible objects.
- Visit your dentist twice a year for a cleaning and checkup.
